100 Days, 100 Nights
Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings smash all expectations with the follow up to their acclaimed second album Naturally. Entitled 100 Days 100 Nights, this new album is sophisticated without surrendering to technology. The sound is still slammed to 8 track tape at their Bushwick, Brooklyn hideout but they sure know to coax the maximum amount of velvet out of those ancient microphones. 100 Days 100 Nights dips between hot funk, soul, rhythm & blues and draws on Sharon’s deep gospel influences to create a masterful take on a classic sound. This album takes the groove beyond previous efforts and must place the Dap-Kings at the very head of the funk/soul pack.
